Characteristics

The Department presents a series of relevant characteristics as listed below:

• It constitutes a self-managed administrative body.
• It is the only department to deliver anaesthetic services.
• Its scope of action comprises several interdependent functional units.
• It provides a multidisciplinary approach to the provision of health in virtue of the versatility that characterises the specialty.
• It is fully accredited as a teaching centre to teach postgraduate courses and to train specialists within the scope of the residency programme elaborated by the Ministry of Health.

 

Objectives

The main objectives of the Department are:

• To offer high-quality healthcare.
• To optimise the perioperative care of the surgical patient.
• To implement the healthcare programme to the highest standards.
• To main an open and smooth business relationship with the different surgical departments and/or physicians in the centre.
• To develop a rigorous teaching activity appropriate to the characteristics of the Institute.
