SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR OUT-PATIENTS
It is very important for you to understand and to follow the instructions provided below for a rapid and uneventful recovery.
- A responsible adult should accompany you during the first 24 hours after discharge because some anaesthetics and pain medicines can cause dizziness, nausea, vomiting or somnolence. If this situation persists, please call the Ambulatory Surgery Centre.
- Bed rest is recommended during the first 24 hours after the surgery. After 24 hours, you should increase your daily activities gradually, unless you are instructed otherwise.
- Return to a normal diet gradually. Start by taking liquids and introduce solid foods slowly.
- Do not have any alcoholic drinks for the first 24 hours following surgery. Do not smoke either during these first 24 hours as smoking could cause dizziness, nausea or vomiting.
- Driving a motor vehicle, riding a bicycle or operating machinery after anaesthesia is dangerous and should be postponed for 24 hours after the operation. You should not make any important decisions during this period of time.
