Welcome

This website is intended to provide an open space of discussion where patients suffering from chronic pain can interact with the professionals working in this field with the aim of improving their health and quality of life. It is the wish of our team to establish a physician-patient relationship based on the sharing of information and communication. The better understanding and knowledge by the patient of his or her pathology and the therapeutic alternatives available increase the patient´s ability to actively participate in the decisions that affect them.

What is the Pain Medicine Clinic?

What does the Pain Medicine Clinic do?

The first thing on the list is to perform a DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENT. Even though many patients come to the clinic with a pre-established etiologic diagnosis (meaning that their regular doctor has already found a cause for the symptoms of the patient), a series of secondary diagnoses are established at the clinic. These diagnoses are based on the type, topography and characteristics of the pain, allowing for a better definition of treatment options.

A TREATMENT PLAN. The different options and treatment alternatives derived from the diagnosis are presented to the patient, establishing timeframes and realistic improvement objectives.

COORDINATION. Treating a patient with chronic pain often requires the participation of specialists and professionals from different disciplines. In cooperation with the difference medical and surgical departments at INSTITUT UNIVERSITARI DEXEUS we can offer patients a range of actions that complete an interdisciplinary treatment plan.

Who can be treated at the Pain Medicine Clinic?

Patients who suffer from chronic pain, defined as a painful process that persists for over two months, can benefit from the treatments available at the Pain Medicine Clinic.
