Dear patient:

You are about to undergo a surgical procedure that requires the administration of anaesthesia. The information provided below is intended to inform you of some basic concepts regarding anaesthesia and its different modalities to help you cope with the surgical/anaesthetic procedure with greater peace of mind.

ANAESTHETIC TECHNIQUES

All surgical procedures require the administration of anaesthesia. The purpose of anaesthesia is to prevent the patient from feeling the pain caused by the aggressiveness of the surgery. The choice, application and supervision of the anaesthetic technique to be used is performed by an anaesthesiologist, a physician specialising in Anaesthesiology and Recovery.

Basically, there are two types of anaesthesia:

1) General anaesthesia

2) Locoregional anaesthesia
