A.3- EXTERNAL ROTATIONS

The clinic handles all types of surgical specialties, excepting cardiac surgery, which is offered at the Hospital de Sant Pau. Nonetheless, we have established rotations in different centres to complement training in certain areas. Moreover, this practice allows the students to become familiar with different equipment and working protocols.

Year 2 resident

Intensive Care Unit at Mutua de Terrassa. (6 months)
During this period, the trainee will continue to follow the departmental discipline but his or her departmental activity will follow the guidelines of the mentioned unit and will also collaborate by doing duty shifts.

 

Year 3 resident

Major paediatric surgery at Hospital de Sant Joan de Deu (2 months)
The trainee will start collaborating with the department of anaesthesiology of the mentioned hospital on a full time basis (plus 2 shifts per month), although he or she will continue to follow the departmental discipline of the Institut.

 

Year 4 resident

Anaesthesia in thoracic surgery at Hospital Sagrat Cor (1 month)
Anaesthesia in cardiac surgery and neurosurgery at Hospital de Sant Pau
(2 months)
Pain Medicine Clinic: Hospital de Sant Pau (2 months)
In the different rotations, the trainee will start collaborating with the department of anaesthesiology of the mentioned centre on a full time basis (no shift work), but will continue to follow the departmental discipline.
