This Unit is supervised by an anaesthesiologist specialising in pain who visits patients 1 or 2 days per week in the consultation offices (in the late afternoon), prescribing the appropriate treatment in each particular case. Invasive procedures are carried out at the Outpatient Surgery Unit and include, among others, epidural with corticoids, intravenous regional blocks with reseripine, infiltration of trigger points, peripheral blocks and infusions with regitine. Radiofrequency rhizolysis is performed in the diagnostic imaging area. .
In 2005, the Pain Medicine Unit, performed around 500 procedures specifically for the management of pain, most of which were on an outpatient basis.
